February 24, 2004 - (Halifax, NS) James Ingram, Halifax-based commercial photographer, and the design team from Extreme Group recently appeared in the January/February issue of the 12th Applied Arts Design and Advertising Annual. The team was acknowledged for their collaborative creative on the anti smoking print campaign for the Nova Scotia Office of Health Promotion. Applied Arts Magazine is Canada's preeminent visual communications publication. Applied Arts publishes 6 issues to a readership of 62,000. Two of these issues feature annual competitions of excellence for design, advertising, photography and illustration. The award winning anti-smoking campaign featured innovative and cutting edge creative. "Great reasons to smoke" serves to denormalize smoking to young people, by featuring smoke damaged young adults justifying their habit. "We all worked hard to make the campaign effective. Extreme is always pushing the limits, and as a photographer that is exciting," said James Ingram, photographer on the campaign. "I was thrilled to receive the nod from Applied Arts, especially on a campaign which serves to enlighten young smokers."
